Don’t Get Left Behind. Use Your Social Media Right.

I just bought new tires for my car. I don’t think I’ll put them on, though because that would take too long.

That sounds ridiculous, right?

What if I told you that businesses use this excuse every day.

“I just made this social media account for my business”. “I don’t think I’ll post on them, though because that would take too long”.

Social media is too important to ignore, especially in today’s tech age. Social Media is also something that is easily overlooked in everyday tasks. Let’s go over social media’s impact because just like tires social media can help take you somewhere.

1: Quality trumps quantity

In order to engage your customers on social media, you need to make it informative. Posting something just to post it isn’t the answer. As much as everyone loves videos of cats or the hottest gossip try and appeal to your target audience. Make sure your followers would want to take time and read your post.

2: Earn engagement, don’t buy it

There are a lot of ways to gain followers and “likes” quickly. There are websites that even allow you to pay for “likes” and new followers. I know this sounds like a quick fix, but it is honestly one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Sure everyone will see that you have a lot of “likes” and followers, but there will be zero engagement. What makes social media special is the fact that it gives people the chance to “like” and follow companies that interest them. This allows customers to stay up to date and also gives companies a great window to their customers. So take the time and build a group of followers that actually care about your business.

3: Content is key

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Content is key. Without content your social media is nothing. There are a lot of different social media sites but that doesn’t mean you have to post the same thing on each site. So social media is definitely the place to share the newest feature or introduce the next product, but if it’s completely product-oriented, it can get boring to followers. Mix it up by sharing interesting industry new or photos. You could even give customers behind the scenes at your company, such as an employee birthday or company event. Don’t be afraid of being different.

5: Don’t forget about customer service

No matter what business you’re in you always have to worry about customer satisfaction. Social media is a great way for your customer to interact with you. Promote a customer to write a review or rate your service because it can help build your credibility. Of course not every review is going to be good, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Take this time to understand why the customer is so upset and use this review to show how concerned you are at making the customer satisfied.
