Jeep Goes Green

Changes might be in store for the iconic Jeep Wrangler: it could be going green. Jeep CEO Mike Manley has given word that the newest Wrangler model could feature a plug-in hybrid option, but not solely to compete with other green options. The electric engine would provide immediate torque, which would be incredibly useful for the off-road maneuvers of this type of vehicle.

But let’s not forget that a plug-in engine requires plugging the car in, and have you ever seen charging station in the middle of nature? Manley has looked into using aluminum or carbon fiber for the new model, but he must weigh the costs of implementing a green engine against the costs of changing the classic look of the car.

Although the announcement just came, this 2018 model is likely not to go on sale until the end of 2017. The hype will last for a couple years while Jeep continues to surprise its fans.
