Where to Recruit New Mechanics and Employees

One of the most effective ways to grow your shop is by expanding your team. By adding new employees to the mix you are not only adding new skills and experience to the team, but also allowing for more cars to be serviced at once because you now have more hands on deck. When it is within your means to do so, adding new employees is a great way to grow your shop and improve your overall service.

Once you’ve made the decision to hire more employees at your shop, your next question is probably “where do I find new auto mechanics?” Recruiting is a very difficult task for may auto shops. For this reason, we’ve put together a list of five of the best websites to use in your search for new mechanics. Spend less time searching and more time growing your shop!

LinkedIn

With two new members joining LinkedIn every second, it’s safe to say that LinkedIn is one of the fastest growing professional networks out there. What better way to get an accurate idea of the pool of auto mechanics in your area than by posting a job on LinkedIn?

Auto Job Central

Adding a job post on Auto Job Central is a great way to share your open positions exclusively with people in the automotive industry. Auto Job Central allows you to post a job, browse through resume banks, and keep an eye on your top candidates all in one easy to navigate platform.

Indeed

Indeed has solidified its position as the #1 external source of hire and has over 200 million website visitors every month. Job searchers simply type in what job they’re looking for and where they want to work and Indeed generates a list of all of the related jobs in that area. They can then upload a resume, which potential employers are free to go through to try and find the very best candidates for their job opening.

iHireAutomotiveProfessionals

This cost-friendly option allows you to post open jobs on iHireAutomotiveProfessionals for as little as $0.50 per posting. iHire not only helps you get the word out about your open positions on their website, but on many other industry sites as well. They offer a special program called “job wrapping” which eliminates duplicate postings and allows you to create just one posting that will be shared across tons of different auto-related websites.

Monster

Over 7,900 jobs are searched every minute on Monster.com, making it easily one of the best places on the Internet to advertise your auto repair shop’s open position. Monster has algorithms in place to accurately match potential employees with your job posting so that you spend less time sifting through resumes and can quickly fill your open position.

By utilizing these five job posting sites, you’re sure to find new employees for your auto repair shop in no time! But don’t forget, once you hire a new employee it is important to retain that employee. Check out our recent blog, Employee Turnover: An Auto Shop’s Nightmare for tips on reducing employee turnover!
